Ethno-Tours
Ethno Tours or cultural tours seek to expose tourists to the rich culture of the Riau Melayu (Malay) people. Culture is not something you can just capture in words on a page or film; it must be experienced. We love bridging cultures and watching the exchange. There is almost always deep learning that occurs. Along with several nights at the ICI’s Telunas Beach facilities, tourists can expect to enjoy local Melayu music, cuisine, sports, and hospitality. Built into most tours is a development project component that seeks to give back to the community which so readily shares its culture.

Why travel with us?
- Experience. Our team has been running cultural tours for over 7 years. We have hosted hundreds of guests in homes across the region.
- We coach you through the process. Training materials are generally provided for pre-trip preparation. Topics focus on cultural awareness, cross-cultural communication, Islam, etc. In addition to pre-trip preparation, we lead you through a focused time of training on-site and an essential debriefing of your full trip experience before you return.
- We practice what we preach. The principles we coach you through are ones we live out in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural work environment.
- We have a robust model that heavily involves the community in the process. We are always invited into a community with the full consent of village leaders. Villagers are paid fair compensation for hosting responsibilities. Community development projects are decided upon in conjunction with the village leaders.
